What is ANC?
I genuinely believe that the Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC) is the most critical number for patients undergoing chemotherapy or dealing with blood disorders. Neutrophils are the "first responders" of your immune system. When their count drops too low (a condition called neutropenia), your body loses its primary defense against bacteria.
Neutropenia Levels:
- Mild Neutropenia: 1,000 to 1,500 cells/μL.
- Moderate Neutropenia: 500 to 1,000 cells/μL.
- Severe Neutropenia: Less than 500 cells/μL (High risk of infection).
