Dog Hydration Calculator
Keep them cool. Calculate exactly how many ounces or milliliters of water your dog should drink daily to stay healthy and hydrated.
This is about 7.5 standard cups per day.
Is your dog drinking enough?
I genuinely believe that water is the most important "nutrient" for a dog. Unlike humans, dogs can't sweat through their skin (only their paws), so they rely on panting to cool down. This uses up a massive amount of moisture. If your dog is eating dry kibble, they need even more water than a dog on a wet or raw diet.
Dehydration Warning Signs: Check your dog's gums. They should be pink and moist. If they feel tacky or dry, your dog might be dehydrated. Another test is the "skin pinch"—gently pull the skin on the back of their neck; it should snap back instantly.
Hydration Tips:
- Multiple Bowls: Place water in different rooms so it's always within reach.
- Ice Cubes: Many dogs love crunching on ice cubes—it’s a great way to keep them hydrated in the summer.
- Freshness: Change the water at least once a day. Bacteria and slime can build up quickly in a bowl.
