Extend the Life of your Asphalt

I genuinely believe that a small investment in driveway sealing can save you thousands in paving costs down the line. Asphalt is a flexible material, but it becomes brittle when exposed to UV rays and water. Sealing creates a protective barrier that keeps the oils in and the water out, preventing the "alligator cracks" that lead to potholes.

Calculating Coverage: Most 5-gallon buckets of sealer cover between **250 and 500 square feet**. If your driveway has never been sealed or is very rough, the asphalt will "drink" the sealer, requiring much more material than a previously maintained surface.

Prep is Everything:

  • Clean: Power wash or sweep the driveway thoroughly. Sealer won't stick to dirt or oil spots.
  • Cracks: Fill any cracks larger than 1/4 inch with a dedicated crack filler *before* you apply the sealer.
  • Weather: Check the forecast. You usually need 24-48 hours of dry weather and temperatures above 50°F for the sealer to cure properly.
