Fence material calculator
Calculate exactly how many boards, rails, and posts you need to enclose your yard. Build it once, build it right.
The "Frost Line" mistake
I genuinely don't know why people try to save money on post holes. If you live in a cold climate and you only dig your posts 2 feet deep, the first big freeze will "heave" your beautiful new fence right out of the ground. The frost line is real. Check your local code, but in most places, 3 feet deep is the standard for a reason. Don't be the neighbor with the wavy fence.
Note on 8-foot spacing: 8 feet is the industry standard for wood fences because backer rails usually come in 8ft or 16ft lengths. If you change your spacing to something like 7 feet, you’ll end up wasting a foot of every single rail you buy. Stick to 8ft or 6ft centers to save money and wood.
