HVAC CFM Calculator
Ensure proper ventilation. Calculate the required Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) to keep your air fresh and your AC efficient.
Required Airflow
160
CFM
Volume: 1,600 cubic feet.
Why does CFM matter?
I genuinely believe that air quality is the most overlooked part of home comfort. If your CFM is too low, your rooms will feel "stuffy" and CO2 levels will rise, making you sleepy. If it's too high, your AC will be noisy and you'll waste a fortune on electricity. Finding the sweet spot is key.
The Formula: (Area × Height × ACH) / 60 = CFM. We divide by 60 because ACH is per hour, but CFM is per minute.
Room Standards:
- Living Rooms: 4-6 ACH.
- Kitchens: 6-10 ACH to clear out cooking smells and heat.
- Bathrooms: 8-10 ACH to prevent mold and clear out humidity.
