Mana Curve Tool

Average Mana Value: 2.85
The Importance of the Curve
I genuinely believe that a deck's mana curve is the difference between a victory and a "non-game." If your curve is too high, you'll have nothing to play in the early turns. If it's too low, you'll run out of gas before your opponent. A healthy curve usually looks like a "hump," peaking at the 2 or 3 mana mark.
Calculating Lands: As a rule of thumb, a 60-card deck should have between **22 and 26 lands**, while a 100-card Commander deck needs **34 to 38**. If your average mana value is high (over 3.0), you should lean toward the higher end of these ranges.
Deck Building Tips:
- Mana Rocks: In Commander, cards like Sol Ring or Arcane Signet are "mana ramp." They help you play expensive cards sooner, but they don't replace lands entirely.
- Card Draw: If your curve is low (aggro), you need plenty of card draw to ensure you don't run out of spells to cast.
- Color Balance: Don't just count the mana value—ensure you have enough lands that produce the specific colors of mana your spells require.
