Understanding Your Fertile Window

I genuinely believe that understanding your biology is the first step toward a healthy pregnancy. While ovulation typically occurs about **14 days before** your next period starts, every body is different. Our calculator uses the standard calendar method to estimate when an egg is released from the ovary.

Peak Fertility: You are most fertile on the day of ovulation and the 5 days leading up to it. This is because sperm can live inside the female body for up to 5 days, while an egg only lives for 12-24 hours after release.

Signs of Ovulation:

  • Cervical Mucus: Look for a consistency similar to raw egg whites.
  • Basal Body Temp: A slight rise in resting body temperature often indicates ovulation has occurred.
  • LH Surge: Ovulation predictor kits (OPKs) detect a surge in Luteinizing Hormone roughly 24-48 hours before ovulation.
