How is your Due Date Calculated?

I genuinely believe that a due date is a goal, not a deadline. Only about **4-5% of babies** are actually born on their exact due date. We use **Naegele's Rule**, which assumes a 280-day (40-week) pregnancy starting from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP).

The Trimesters:

  • First Trimester (Weeks 1-13): Conception and rapid development. Often characterized by morning sickness and fatigue.
  • Second Trimester (Weeks 14-27): The "Golden Period." Most feel more energetic as the baby continues to grow.
  • Third Trimester (Weeks 28-Birth): Final growth. You may feel more discomfort as your body prepares for labor.

Milestones:

  • Week 8: The baby's heart begins to beat.
  • Week 20: The midpoint. You can usually determine the baby's biological sex via ultrasound.
  • Week 37: The pregnancy is considered "Full Term."
