The "Dye Lot" nightmare

If there’s one piece of advice I can give you: always buy one more roll than you think you need. I've seen too many people run short and try to buy an extra roll a week later, only to find the color is slightly off. Wallpapers are printed in "dye lots," and if you get a roll from a different batch, the difference can be blinding once it’s on your wall.

What is pattern repeat?

If your wallpaper has a large floral pattern or a geometric design, you can’t just stick the next strip up anywhere. You have to shift it up or down to align the pattern. This produces waste at the top and bottom of every strip. Our calculator adds that waste based on the "repeat" size you enter.
